Range of Fees (please be informed that VAT at 20% is payable on all fees)

The hourly rates depend on the date of enrolment of the Solicitor handling the matter. The current hourly rates, exclusive of VAT are set out below:

  • Director / Solicitors with over 8 years’ experience – £250.00.
  • Solicitors with over 4 years’ experience: £180.00.
  • Other Solicitors: £165.00.
  • Trainee Solicitors: £120.00.
  • Others: By agreement.

We also offer one – off fixed / agreed fees for advice and assistance, and many clients find the fixed fee arrangement competitive and better for them. The costs will be agreed upon before we commence work. 

Our solicitors are dedicated to providing precise pricing for motoring offence cases. We always provide advice and assistance that suits individual circumstances. However, if you have legal expense insurance included in your car insurance policy, please let us know.

 

The average cost of a case

The cost of your case will depend on a number of different factors, including the type of offence, whether you enter into a guilty plea or your case goes to Trial and the individual circumstances of your case. We charge an initial £80 consultation fee, exclusive of the fixed fees listed below:

We charge an initial £100 consultation fee exclusive of the fixed fees listed below:

Please note that the fees are exclusive of the Barrister’s costs for attending court on your behalf and third parties’ fees, like the expert’s fees.

The work we undertake covers:
  • One hour initial attendance to take detailed instructions on the incident.
  • Consideration of initial disclosure and any other evidence and advice.
  • Seeking further disclosure of further material, if necessary.
  • Taking your comments on officer’s statements.
  • Analysing relevant evidence, and instructing the relevant expert.
  • conducting further preparatory work, such as taking instructions and queries.
  • Advising on the strengths and weaknesses of your case.
  • Advising on possible defences, likely sentences.
  •  Drafting relevant legal documents.
  • Detailing the key issues.
  • Preparation for your first hearing at the Magistrates Court.
  • Advising on court procedure and the sentencing options available to the court.
  • Discussing the outcome of hearing with you.
The work we undertake does not include:
  • Advice and assistance in relation to a special reason hearing.
  • Barrister’s cost for attending court on your behalf.
  • Our fee for preparation for any further hearings following the initial hearing which is about £500.00 per hearing.
  • Dealing with any Appeal.
  • Drafting the ground of appeal and preparing for any appeal.
Other Costs Involved

such as expert fees and Barrister’s fees. We shall consult you and agree on these costs with you in advance before the fees are incurred.

Timescales

The time it takes to conclude your matter would depend on whether you are pleading guilty to the offence or the matter is proceeding to trial and also the court listings however the usual timescale is three to six months or longer, if the Courts are very busy.
